Ethan Strange is set to make his Kangaroos debut on Saturday night, named on the bench for Australia's Week 3 World Cup match against the Cook Islands in Townsville.
The Canberra Raiders five-eighth told AAP he had no knowledge of reports linking him to the Sydney Roosters.
Strange, 22, was mentioned as a possible replacement for Sam Walker, whose future at the Roosters is uncertain after contract negotiations collapsed.
He remains contracted to the Raiders until at least the end of 2028 and rejected suggestions he might join his father and sister at the Roosters.
"I am with the Raiders under Ricky (Stuart) so I have no idea what that story is on about," the five-eighth said.
"Ricky looks after me as a person and tries to keep me mentally fresh, he is a great man and I have a really good relationship with him."
Strange also spoke about teammate Hudson Young, whose multi-million-dollar contract extension offer was withdrawn by the Raiders earlier this week.
"(Hudson) is my mate and he has to look after himself and his family… football is such a short time in your life," Strange said.
"He is going to be my mate whatever happens, I just want him to be happy."
