Penrith are adding to their forward options after Lindsay Smith and Scott Sorensen left for the Perth Bears, signing Liam Le Blanc on a one-year Top 30 contract.

The 22-year-old will join the Panthers after South Sydney told him he would not be retained beyond the 2026 season.

Le Blanc moved to the Rabbitohs in 2024 seeking more first-grade opportunities and made his NRL debut there. He represented Australian Schoolboys in 2022.

He has since played 27 NRL matches, including six in 2026, but has not secured a regular place in South Sydney's forward pack.

Penrith general manager Shane Elford said Le Blanc could develop under the club's system while strengthening competition among its forwards.

"Liam is an exciting addition to the squad, with the potential to develop his game within the system," Elford said.

"He also brings valuable experience and competition to the pack, and we look forward to seeing what he can contribute to Panthers."

Le Blanc will aim to establish himself under coach Ivan Cleary and become a regular in the side in 2027.
