Jarome Luai's Impactful Visit to PNG

On Sunday afternoon, Jarome Luai, the talented five-eighth from Wests Tigers, surprised the NRL community with an unexpected visit to Papua New Guinea.

He was joined by the Chiefs CEO, Lorna McPherson, and head of football Michael Chammas, along with PNG Prime Minister James Marape as they toured various facilities.

The group made a stop at a local match featuring Hela Wigmen versus Enga Mioks, where Luai immersed himself in the lively atmosphere, receiving a warm reception from the crowd.

Prime Minister Marape expressed his admiration for Luai's visit, emphasizing his belief in the potential of Papua New Guinea within the NRL landscape.

"To have a player of Jarome Luai's calibre visit the country, experience the culture, meet the people, and see what Papua New Guinea has to offer is heartwarming for the nation," Marape stated in an official release.

"On behalf of the people and Government of Papua New Guinea, I welcome him and his family to the country."

He continued, "To be the first high-profile player to come and show interest in the team is something we deeply appreciate."

"It sends a message that Papua New Guinea is ready, rugby league is strong here, and the future in the NRL is bright."

Luai's contract with the Tigers features provisions for annual renewals that he can decide upon.
