Debate Over Galvin's Position Intensifies

The question of how long Lachlan Galvin will don the Bulldogs' halfback jersey is currently at the forefront of discussions.

Following a disappointing defeat to a weakened Brisbane Broncos team on Friday, tension is mounting in Belmore, and prominent NRL figures are divided on Galvin's future position.

Rugby league legend Andrew Johns has asserted that the Bulldogs should consider giving young halfback Mitchell Woods his debut, which would allow Galvin to shift into the five-eighth role for a more balanced attack.

Woods is viewed as the future main playmaker for the club, and Johns believes that Galvin's talents align better with a running-style offense, urging coach Cameron Ciraldo to implement this strategy.

"I don't think Matt Burton is an out and out five-eighth. He's a running five eighth," explained Johns during the Sunday Footy Show.

"If you're going to have a big running five eighth, you need an on-ball halfback who does everything.

"We know Lachie Galvin. He's building his game. I see him more as a long term five eighth. He wants the ball, but he's still got to understand his game.

"He's got that thing where he's going to the right side where he's going to Jacob Preston, which I think he's going to too much with Preston.

"But he's still learning his game, and I still think he is an out-and-out five eighth moving forward.
