The Castleford Tigers have sought to dispel rumors concerning Tyrell Sloan's anticipated transfer to the club after the abrupt exit of head coach Ryan Carr.
Sloan is expected to join the Tigers in 2027 on a two-year contract, previously confirmed during Carr's tenure at the Super League team.
However, Carr's sudden departure has sparked doubts about whether Sloan will still proceed with the transfer, especially given their close bond.
Previously, Carr had coached Sloan at the St George Illawarra Dragons, and the outside back was eager to reunite with his former assistant coach in England.
Although Sloan expressed a desire to remain in the NRL, he eventually opted to transition to the Super League, influenced partially by Carr being at Castleford.
"It's something I didn't want to do, but unfortunately that's how the footy world works and the decision was made a few months ago, and there's a bit in the background going on with Carry over there," Sloan told reporters earlier this month.
With Carr's departure, speculation has arisen regarding whether Sloan might rethink his choice, especially with teammates Damien Cook and Mathew Feagai also signing with the Super League club for next season.
However, Tigers owner Martin Jepson recently addressed this uncertainty during a fan forum, discussing Sloan's situation.
According to attendees at the forum, Jepson emphasized that Castleford remains optimistic about Sloan's transfer and mentioned he had talked with the 24-year-old and Director of Rugby League Chris Chester last week.
