Despite the impressive attacking display, head coach Kristian Woolf recognizes that his team must elevate their performance in the upcoming weeks.
After initially falling behind 10-0 against the Eels within the first 20 minutes, the Dolphins shifted their strategy and scored six out of the last seven tries, sealing a decisive 34-16 victory. This result secured their position in the NRL Top 4, with only two matches remaining before their inaugural finals campaign kicks off next month.
As is typical with the Dolphins, the performance wasn't flawless, but it was highly entertaining, featuring impressive ball-handling that at times mirrored the speed of a sevens game. Herbie Farnworth and Jamayne Isaako each scored two tries.
Analyzing the match statistics, Woolf would likely be pleased with his team's defense, which missed just 16 tackles compared to the Eels' staggering 47, often leaving them swiping at nothing but air. This marks a notable improvement over the Dolphins' season average, surpassing even their previous week's 22-0 win against Manly, which saw them miss 24 tackles.
In his usual composed manner, Woolf expressed satisfaction with the victory but acknowledged the need for growth as the finals approach. "It wasn't the best performance, but there were a lot of things we can take away that were really positive," he remarked.
"We know we have a big game next week against the Roosters. We know we need to be better next week, and in the finals."
