The Dolphins have made a move for their new player by signing promising talent Tex Anderson from the Illawarra.
In the past year, Anderson has emerged in junior representative competitions, playing for the Illawarra South Coast Steelers in the Laurie Daley Cup and the Illawarra Steelers in the SG Ball.
The junior from Collegians Rugby League has spent his entire career at the same Illawarra club, showcasing his skills as both a fullback and winger recently.
Having played in various positions during his development, he could potentially become a valuable utility for the Dolphins, having signed on until 2027.
This week, his management announced the signing via social media, with Anderson set to move north right after the Harrigan Cup season in Illawarra, where he has excelled for Collegians.
In his last match of the regular season against the Dapto Canaries, Anderson scored four tries, including the last three, and he will play the qualification final against the Thirroul Butchers this weekend, again starting on the wing.
Although still eligible for SG Ball next year, he has thrived in senior ranks, earning a pathways deal with the Dolphins until the end of next year, likely progressing through the under-19 Mal Meninga Cup and under-20 NRLQ competition.
Anderson is not the first Illawarra junior signed by the Dolphins; he has the chance to follow in Jack Bostock's footsteps.
Bostock made his State of Origin debut this year with the NSW Blues and might be considered for the Australian Kangaroos squad for the World Cup later this year, having joined the Dolphins after leaving the Dragons before his NRL debut, and he has continued to thrive in Redcliffe.
