Verrills Draws Interest from Super League

Sam Verrills, the hooker for Gold Coast Titans, is gaining interest from several Super League teams following reports from the Courier Mail two weeks ago indicating that his contract will not be renewed.

In 2027, the starting hooker role is expected to transition to Oliver Pascoe, who has shown promise early in his career.

This development puts the Titans in a position where they cannot offer the 27-year-old an extension as his contract is set to expire by year-end.

Interest in Verrills is reportedly growing across the Northern Hemisphere, with LoveRugbyLeague noting that various Super League clubs are now considering him as a potential signing.

Since launching his NRL career in 2019, Verrills has played 120 games, including a memorable premiership victory with the Sydney Roosters during his debut year.

He had a standout moment in the Grand Final against the Canberra Raiders, scoring the match's opening try just six minutes in after darting out of dummy half.

After joining the Titans in 2023, he has made 64 appearances for the club, but they appear to be shifting their focus and are willing to let him explore options elsewhere, including Super League teams.

Speculation suggests that the Catalans Dragons, who currently have Kruise Leeming on a temporary deal but are open to changes for 2027, may be interested.

Meanwhile, the Huddersfield Giants have recently added another hooker, Cole Geyer, but his contract ends this year, making Verrills a compelling choice for them as well.
