Immi Alo Honored as Knights' Patient Ambassador

Ponga to honour Immi Alo in Kick for a Cause initiative

This weekend's NRL Magic Round holds special significance for 12-year-old Immi Alo, the nib Newcastle Knights' patient ambassador for the Kick for a Cause initiative.

In a heartfelt gesture, captain Kalyn Ponga will inscribe Immi's name on his kicking tee to raise awareness for John Hunter Children's Hospital.

Immi was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma in January 2024, beginning a challenging journey where John Hunter Children's Hospital became a second home for her family.

After over two years of treatment, Immi celebrated the end of her chemotherapy in February and rang the bell in March, marking her remission while attending monthly check-ups.

Throughout this journey, football provided her with strength and a sense of normalcy.

Despite her ongoing treatment, Immi returned to the field last year, now playing for the Wests Rosellas Under 14s.

The Newcastle Knights NRLW squad also played a crucial role, welcoming her to games and training during her treatment.

Being chosen as the patient ambassador for Magic Round symbolizes a full-circle moment, merging her passion for football with the hospital that aided in her recovery.
