Tuivasa-Sheck's Season Ends with Injury

NRL player runs with the ball, tackled around the waist by two players

Rumors have surfaced suggesting that Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, a celebrated figure at the Warriors club, may have seen the end of his NRL career following a confirmed anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in round 12.

At 32 years old, the outside back took to Instagram to announce that he would not be playing again this year, intending to join Wakefield Trinity in England next season.

"That's my footy for the year. ACL confirmed. Tough to accept, but the season goes on. We got something special going. Big love for all the messages," he stated in his post.

The injury occurred during a tackle on Hayden Buchanan in the early moments of Saturday night's match against St George Illawarra, forcing him to exit the game.

After the game, he wore a knee brace and returned to Auckland for scans to confirm his condition.

Prior to this injury, Tuivasa-Sheck was making a strong comeback from a minor shoulder issue and performing well in his last games for the second-placed Kiwi club.

This injury could mark a heartbreaking conclusion to a remarkable NRL journey for Tuivasa-Sheck, who is notably the only player to have received the Dally M Medal while representing the Warriors.

He also earned the Dally M Captain of the Year award in 2020, recognized for his exemplary leadership during the Warriors' struggle amid COVID-19 restrictions.

In an emotional comeback, Tuivasa-Sheck returned to the Warriors in 2024 after a stint in rugby union, representing the All Blacks in three Test matches.
