The Castleford Tigers have confirmed the signing of Tom Amone on a new deal through the end of the Super League season.

Amone, who previously played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Wests Tigers in Australia before joining the Leigh Leopards in England, established himself as one of the top forwards in the English game.

After a successful stint with the Leopards, he returned to Australia to play for the Canterbury Bulldogs, but ultimately left the team without making an appearance.

Castleford Tigers director of rugby league Danny Wilson expressed his excitement about signing Amone, calling him a "significant signing" and a "marquee-player." Wilson highlighted the club's commitment to building a strong team for the future, stating, "to be able to attract and sign players of this value, and quality is an indication of the direction Martin Jepson wants to take the club.

We are working towards a brighter future, and this is a good step in that direction."

However, the addition of Amone to the squad means that the club will have to release an overseas player to comply with Super League regulations.

This decision reflects the tough choices that clubs often have to make in order to strengthen their teams while adhering to league rules.

Overall, the signing of Tom Amone represents a strategic move by the Castleford Tigers to bolster their lineup with a talented and experienced player.

His previous success in both Australia and England makes him a valuable asset to the team as they aim to improve their performance in the Super League.

The club's willingness to make difficult decisions, such as releasing an overseas player, demonstrates their commitment to creating a competitive and successful team for the future.
