Tigers Down Raiders 33-14

The Raiders fall to Tigers in ANZAC Round

The Wests Tigers defeated the Canberra Raiders 33-14 in the ANZAC Round opener at Leichhardt Oval.

Noah Martin crossed early but the Raiders' would-be score was disallowed for obstruction by Joseph Tapine.

Soon after, Apisai Koroisau shifted play and Luke Laulilii finished in the left corner, Adam Doueihi converting to make it 6-0.

Continued Tigers pressure produced a Doueihi try shortly after, with the halfback failing to convert and the visitors 10-0 down.

Koroisau was sin-binned for a hip-drop on Martin, giving the Raiders a numerical edge.

Matt Timoko burst through the middle to score and Ethan Sanders converted, cutting the margin to 10-6.

From the scrum Kaeo Weekes powered through multiple defenders to score, and Sanders' kick put Canberra in front 12-10.

Late in the half a Tigers error led to a Raiders penalty goal, Sanders making it 14-10 at halftime.

The Tigers regained control after the break to secure a comprehensive victory.
