Michael Ennis Reflects on Disappointing Job Loss

‘I respect him for the conversation’: Michael Ennis opens up on ‘disappointing’ Dragons axing

Michael Ennis, the former assistant coach for St George Illawarra Dragons, has shared his thoughts on a "disappointing" week after being informed that his role with the team was no longer needed.

Following Shane Flanagan's exit from the club on Monday, Dean Young stepped in as the interim coach and informed Ennis that he was part of the necessary changes within the organization, leading to his dismissal.

Ennis joined Flanagan's coaching staff in September of the previous year, a time marked by the team's unfortunate finish in 15th place.

Expressing his feelings regarding the situation, Ennis stated, "It was disappointing in the first part that Shane (Flanagan) and I are obviously very close, and to see how difficult it's been for him as a close friend and a great mentor and a great coach."

The changes at the club have come as a shock to many, as Ennis highlights the personal impact of the decision on both him and Flanagan.
