Stuart drops Fogarty hint, contract talks underway

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has hinted that Jamal Fogarty will likely remain with the team, confirming ongoing negotiations.

Fogarty has a mutual option in his contract for 2026, with a deadline set for the club to make a decision by Round 6.

If they do not exercise this option, Fogarty could choose to take a reduced salary for 2026 at a later point in the season.

This situation presents a dilemma for the Raiders, particularly with the recent signing of Ethan Sanders from the Parramatta Eels.

Sanders is expected to play behind Fogarty in the halfback position for the upcoming season, but the club sees him and young five-eighth Ethan Strange as the potential future of their halves.

This could potentially leave Fogarty on the outside looking in, as the team looks towards building for the long term.
