Storm Signs Xerri Amid Rivalry Tensions

Bronson Xerri Set to Decide on His NRL Future

The Melbourne Storm have successfully executed one of the most intriguing transfer market deals this season.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Bronson Xerri is on the verge of signing a three-year contract with the Storm, concluding an intense recruitment competition with the Parramatta Eels.

Xerri, aged 25, received approval from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs earlier this week to terminate his contract before the 2027 season.

Quick to act, he contacted Eels coach Jason Ryles to inform him personally before pledging his commitment to Craig Bellamy.

This acquisition is crucial for Melbourne, especially following a challenging start to the 2026 season, which included the Lomax situation, a series of losses, and the revelation regarding Bellamy's neurodegenerative disorder reported in April.

For Xerri, this move marks a new chapter in an already tumultuous NRL career.

The Bulldogs offered him a second chance, signing him for two years as he sought to revive his career.

In 2024, he made a significant impact by playing 19 games and helping the Bulldogs secure a spot in the finals, finishing in the top four last season.

However, his performance in the 2026 season has been marked by inconsistency.
