NRL Players Face Charges After Round 17

In the aftermath of the recent Friday night fixtures in round 17, five players have been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee.

The Sydney Roosters are particularly in the spotlight, with three of their players cited and one facing a potential suspension.

Notably, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs' Matt Burton finds himself in a challenging situation after being charged with Dangerous Contact against Josh Patston during the 48th minute of his team's victory over the Titans.

This charge, categorized as Grade 1, marks Burton's third offence, putting him at risk of a $3,000 fine should he choose to accept an early guilty plea.

Should he decide to contest the charge without success, a two-match suspension could follow.

Additionally, Gold Coast Titans' Moeaki Fotuaika has been cited for a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle against Connor Tracey in the 76th minute.

This incident represents Fotuaika's second recorded offence.

He faces an early guilty plea fine of $1,800 but could be looking at a $2,500 penalty if he challenges the charge and does not prevail.

Meanwhile, Lindsay Collins of the Sydney Roosters has been charged for a Careless High Tackle against Xavier Willison in the early stages of the match, specifically in the 9th minute.

Collins is expected to participate in concussion protocols following the incident.
