Storm players hobbling after hard-fought win

‘Crook ankle’: Storm count cost of taxing victory

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

Following Melbourne Storm's taxing victory over the Penrith Panthers in a grand final rematch, the team is dealing with injuries to key players.

Ryan Papenhuyzen is nursing a "crook ankle," while Nick Meany is suspected to have a fractured cheekbone, and Jahrome Hughes has a suspected hand injury.

The physical nature of the match also saw Cameron Munster escape punishment for a hip-drop tackle.

Meaney's injury, caused by a collision with teammate Nelson Asofa-Solomona, will be particularly difficult for the Storm as they will miss his goalkicking abilities and dependability in the centers.

Coach Craig Bellamy expressed concern, stating, "They're thinking Nick's got a broken cheekbone." Overall, the Storm is facing the consequences of a tough and intense game against the Panthers.
