St George Illawarra re-sign comeback hooker

NRL 2025 | St. George Illawarra Dragons Top Tries of July

After an ACL injury late in 2026, Connor Muhleisen returned for two NRL games and impressed around the ruck.

He has also made 89 reserve-grade appearances since his debut in that competition in 2021.

St George Illawarra have re-signed the hooker for two seasons through 2028, despite reported interest from the Perth Bears.

Muhleisen has been with the club since age 14, debuted in the NRL in 2023 and has played 13 top-grade games.

"Connor is consistent and competes incredibly hard, and that's what I value most as a coach," Dean Young said.

Jacob Liddle is expected to wear the number nine in 2027, with versatile Connor Watson as cover; Young could consider both Watson and Muhleisen for the six-man bench.

Watson is set to join the PNG Chiefs after 2027, while the Dragons seek progress after finishing last in 2026.

"It's a great feeling to be extending my time with the Dragons," Muhleisen said.
