Wayne Bennett has confirmed that Latrell Mitchell will remain at fullback for the Rabbitohs when he returns from injury, despite calls for Jye Gray to keep the No.1 jersey.

Gray has impressed in Mitchell's absence, leading to speculation about his position in the team upon Mitchell's return.

However, Bennett stated that fullback is Mitchell's preferred position and that he will reclaim the spot.

Michael Carayannis reported that Mitchell could be back as early as Round 5, with Gray likely moving to a utility role on the interchange bench.

While having Mitchell and Gray in the same lineup may make the Rabbitohs stronger, the decision has been made to keep Mitchell at fullback.

Bennett emphasized, "Fullback is his position.

It's his No.1 position.

He enjoys being there, and he'll be starting back fullback when he comes back." Despite Gray's impressive form, the coaching staff and management at South Sydney are adamant that Mitchell will return to his role as the team's fullback, while Gray will provide versatility off the bench.
