Sharks Featured in Women's State of Origin Match

Four Sharks selected for women's Origin opener

Four Sharks are set to play in the upcoming women's State of Origin opener.

Blues teammates Tiana Penitani Gray, Ellie Johnston, and Quincy Dodd will compete against Maroons newcomer Chantay Kiria-Ratu.

On Wednesday, NSW and Queensland revealed their 20-player squads for the match at Newcastle's McDonald Jones Stadium on April 30.

Kiria-Ratu, back from an ACL injury, will make her State of Origin debut as the starting five-eighth.

Previously, she represented Queensland at the Under 19s level.

The 21-year-old will join Lauren Brown in the halves as the Maroons aim to reclaim the Origin shield.

The Blues are pursuing back-to-back series victories for the first time since 2018, having won 2-1 in 2025.

Last year's standout performances by Penitani Gray and Johnston were key, while Dodd seeks to return after last playing in 2023.

Despite excelling as one of the top centres in the NRLW, Penitani Gray is in the second row, while Johnston starts at prop and Dodd is on the extended bench.
