Sea Eagles' Olakau'atu Faces Dual Charges

Olakau'atu Faces Dual Charges, Eel Penalized, Panther Uncharged

Haumole Olakau'atu, the standout second-rower for the Manly Sea Eagles, has encountered two charges during the club's matchup against the Parramatta Eels.

According to NRL regulations, these will be regarded as second offenses since they occurred in the same game.

As both infractions are classified as Grade 1 charges, Olakau'atu will avoid suspension.

In the first half, he received a penalty for a careless high tackle on Ronald Volkman, followed by another similar offense in the second half against Sean Russell.

Each infraction carries a fine of $1800, but he could face a higher penalty of $2500 if he chooses to contest the charges at the NRL judiciary and enters a not guilty plea.

In the meantime, Tallyn Da Silva, the hooker for the Parramatta Eels, is facing a Grade 1 charge for a dangerous throw on Manly's Jake Simpkin.

With an early guilty plea, Da Silva would incur a fee of $1000, whereas contesting the charge could result in a fine of $1500 if he loses.

During Sunday's games, the only player reported without incurring a penalty was Isaiah Papali'i from the Penrith Panthers, who faced a report for a dangerous tackle in a significant victory over the Newcastle Knights.

Both Olakau'atu and Da Silva have until midday (AEST) on Tuesday to decide their pleas.

Any hearings related to the charges will take place on Tuesday evening at NRL HQ in Sydney.
