In Parramatta, locals experienced an unexpected treat as two notable figures temporarily traded their usual roles for something a bit more culinary.
NRL stars and podcast duo Willie Mason and Justin Horo surprised patrons by taking over service at Pappa Flock, coinciding with the relaunch of the eatery's original location.
This event signifies a significant milestone for the beloved chicken chain, which launched in Parramatta in 2023 and has now expanded to twelve stores across two states. The reopening celebrated not just a refreshed aesthetic but also honored the community that has supported the brand since inception.
Even though Mason and Horo are seasoned pros in the sports arena, they faced an entirely different challenge in the bustling kitchen environment.
Under the guidance of head chef Eddie Cofie, they took orders, announced meals, and worked to keep up with the eager flow of amused customers. Laughter and surprise filled the air as onlookers captured the moment, spreading the news quickly.
"It's not every day you get served by NRL legends," noted Pappa Flock's Chief Marketing Officer Rachel Korbel.
"The jaw drops when customers realised who was taking their order were priceless."
The refurbished establishment features a fresh design, highlighted by a custom 'Flavour Up' condiments station that allows patrons to enhance their meals with items like spicy pickles and house-made sauces. Additionally, there's a striking mural by local artist Brent Smith, alongside the 'Crunch of Fame' which pays tribute to the original staff who helped establish the business.
Nonetheless, amid all the renovations, the fundamental recipe for success remains unchanged.
