The New Zealand Warriors have announced that Jett Cleary will make his NRL debut on Sunday against the Newcastle Knights following a last-minute change in the halves.
Initially, Te Maire Martin was named as the halfback, and Chanel Harris-Tavita was set to play five-eighth.
However, injuries to both players forced the team to make significant adjustments, with Luke Hanson now joining Cleary in the halves.
Martin was ready to return from a hamstring injury, while Harris-Tavita has sustained a minor hamstring problem and is likely to miss just this one match.
"It has been decided not to risk the established halves this week," the Warriors stated in an announcement.
These changes result in a halves pairing with only two total NRL appearances between them.
Hanson debuted in Round 6 against the Knights earlier this season, but has played just one additional first-grade match since then.
This duo's lack of experience marks them as the least experienced halves combination in NRL history, despite having played significantly together in the NSW Cup.
Both players hail from the Penrith Panthers' junior system, progressing through the club's pathways before moving to the Warriors.
