The Sydney Roosters have announced their plans to welcome back Mark Nawaqanitawase, who has made headlines for his talents in both rugby league and union.

The dynamic winger represented Australia during last year's Ashes series and recently made his debut for the NSW Blues in the second State of Origin match.

He has been included in the squad for Game 3, but will shift back to rugby union at the close of this year as he seeks a position in the upcoming World Cup team.

"Yes, the club wants Mark back," Politis shared with the media.

"We've told his manager that and we think in June 2028 we can see him at the Roosters again. Hopefully, by then he will be missing playing league."

Nawaqanitawase has made a meaningful impact at the Roosters, and reports suggest he aspires to rejoin the rugby league ranks at some future date, likely with the Bondi Junction club.

The Roosters have a history of players transitioning to rugby union, including Joseph Manu and Joseph Suaalii who have both made similar moves recently.

There are ongoing discussions about bringing these players back into the Roosters fold, although no agreements have been reached as of yet.

In preparation for next season, the Roosters have secured Reuben Garrick from the Manly Sea Eagles to fill the void left by Nawaqanitawase, while rumors indicate that Murray Taulagi may also make a transfer from the North Queensland Cowboys.
