Players Fined for Dangerous Contact Incidents

Te Maire Martin and Jaylan De Groot have received updates on their disciplinary actions from the Match Review Committee.

Following Saturday's Round 12 games, both players faced fines, with New Zealand Warriors' playmaker Martin and Gold Coast Titans' fullback De Groot involved in separate incidents.

In an impressive show during the Warriors' 30-12 win against the Dragons, Martin was penalized for a Dangerous Contact infraction on Dragons halfback Kyle Flanagan in the match's early moments.

The charge has been classified as Grade 1, and thanks to his clean record, Martin could settle for a $1,000 fine if he opts for an early guilty plea.

If he chooses to contest the charge and is found guilty, the fine would increase to $1,500.

Meanwhile, Titans fullback Jaylan De Groot also found himself in the MRC's crosshairs after the game against the Manly Sea Eagles.

His Dangerous Contact charge arose from an incident involving Manly's Clayton Faulalo during the 59th minute.

This charge is similarly graded as a Grade 1 offence, featuring the same financial penalties as Martin's: $1,000 for an early plea and $1,500 if he files a contest and loses.

As first-time offenders, both players will face fines at the minimum level.

Fortunately for their teams, neither case results in a suspension, ensuring both players are available for their upcoming Round 13 fixtures.
