Josh Hannay stated there isn't a quick solution to improve the Gold Coast's situation, dismissing any idea that the Titans should embark on a spending spree this off-season as "garbage."
Last Saturday, the Titans suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, losing 42-22 to the Rabbitohs, and they are poised for their eighth bottom-four finish in ten seasons.
Under Hannay's leadership, the Titans have shown flashes of potential, particularly noted in a surprising victory over Penrith that showcased future stars.
However, the team continues to struggle with defensive weaknesses, having allowed at least 30 points in their last five matches.
Hannay remains focused on long-term development and rejected the notion that the Titans must seek out market solutions to bolster the experience of their young squad.
"The most important thing, and I sort of addressed this a few weeks ago, (is) to become experienced you've got to go through it," said the Titans coach.
"You don't go out and buy experience. You've actually got to gain it, you've got to earn it, you've got to play 100 games."
"This idea that we constantly want to go out and buy solutions... it's just garbage, mate. It's not the answer."
"If you feel confident you've got the right people, then you persist with them. You're going to go through some s***, but if you're confident you've got the right people, then you persist."
"Then when they come out the other side, and next time they're in that position, they know exactly what to do. But if you don't go through it, you don't know how to handle it."
"It's hard to go through at different times, but as long as you are confident in the personnel you have that once they gain the experience they're going to make better decisions, that's all that matters."
