The New Zealand Warriors have confirmed that forward Tanner Stowers-Smith has re-signed, keeping him in Auckland until the conclusion of the 2030 season.
Even though he extended his contract in June last year with a three-year agreement, his swift rise as a standout middle has earned him an additional couple of years with the club.
The Christchurch-born player debuted in Round 11 last year against the Dolphins and has become a key contributor to the Warriors' forward lineup, coming off the bench in 2026 to deliver impactful performances.
After making 13 appearances in his rookie season, he will take the field for his 19th game of the 2026 season against Manly in the regular season's final match.
Coach Andrew Webster has expressed excitement about Stowers-Smith's growth as a young forward.
"Once Tanner adjusted to being a first grader, you wouldn't get a more professional, hard-working player," Webster stated in a Warriors release.
"He's got a big motor and he just wants to learn and be the best.
"He's going to be a wonderful asset for the club for years to come. We all love him."
At just 22, he has advanced through the Warriors' pathways, which have produced talents like Demitric Vaimauga, Leka Halasima, Jacob Laban, Ali Leiataua, and Eddie Ieremia-Toeava, all making their mark in the NRL.
In his 18 games this year, Stowers-Smith has achieved 37 tackle breaks, averaging 122 metres mainly in a bench role, with 15 games coming off the interchange and three as a starter.
The Warriors have secured a top two finish for the end of the regular season and can clinch the minor premiership with a significant victory over Manly, as they are only one point behind the Panthers based on differential.
