Benji Marshall criticized the "outrageous" quality of officiating during the Tigers' match against the Cowboys on Saturday, stating he would seek an explanation from the NRL.
The Tigers fought hard against North Queensland, despite having no playoff hopes, and Marshall expressed pride in his team during his press conference.
"I asked them to fight for everything, even though we've got nothing to play for in terms of the table and the semis. I thought they did a great job of that," he stated.
This frustration led Marshall to address the refereeing, as he pinpointed several controversial calls he would like clarification on.
"I actually feel very sorry for them because the standard and the level of some of the refereeing decisions today was honestly outrageous," he expressed.
"I thought we copped the raw end of the stick all night."
Marshall highlighted the controversial decision to disallow a try by Jarome Luai, citing that Apisai Koroisau was penalized for making contact with Thomas Mikaele's arm prior to the score.
Mikaele appeared to be running from dummy-half rather than preparing to pass, and Marshall felt this justified his captain's attempt to disrupt the play.
"Just the inconsistencies around Api gets penalised when Jarome runs away and scores for playing at Tom Mikaele arm or stripping the ball. What's he supposed to do?" Marshall questioned.
"He's going to go and score if he doesn't. We go down the other end, it's an eight-point turnaround," he noted, referring to the penalty goal that North Queensland converted shortly after.
