Another star from the Penrith Panthers is considering testing the waters as the November 1 deadline approaches following the 2026 season.
Last week, agent Allan Gainey met with the club to talk about extending the contract of the State of Origin and Australian backrower.
This isn't the first instance of a Panthers player expressing the possibility of leaving; Isaah Yeo mentioned it recently when discussing Jarome Luai's potential signing with the PNG Chiefs.
Four-time premiership champion Liam Martin shared his thoughts with The Daily Telegraph, indicating that he may look elsewhere under certain circumstances, particularly as his partner, Chelsea, is curious about the PNG opportunity.
"Oh, look, it's not out of the question. It's definitely of interest," Martin remarked.
"You know, being part of something new and like, how much they love football, it's incredible. And obviously Jarome going, it sort of opens the doors for a lot of people."
"So I think what he did was very brave, and yeah, it's certainly interesting. I don't think I'll be on a private jet like Rome. I might be in cattle class on the plane."
For Martin, this potential move would not just be about the obvious benefits for him and his family; it represents a fresh challenge as well.
"Discussed it with my partner and everything. Obviously would need a lot more details about it, but we certainly found it interesting," he concluded.
