There are reports that premiership-winning captain Isaah Yeo has reached an agreement on a contract extension to continue with Penrith.
An announcement on the new deal is anticipated ahead of this year's NRL finals, likely ensuring Yeo concludes his career as a one-club player.
At 31, Yeo is among several key Panthers players whose contracts expire on November 1.
He has played 283 matches for Penrith over 13 seasons since debuting in the NRL in 2014.
Yeo's extension is timely as the Panthers seek to fend off interest from the Papua New Guinea Chiefs, who aim to sign Nathan Cleary for 2028 with a lucrative, tax-free contract that could make him the highest-paid player in NRL history.
Already, representative winger Brian To'o has committed to the Chiefs, and back rower Liam Martin may follow suit after pausing contract talks.
Other Panthers players, including Mitch Kenny, Casey McLean, Paul Alamoti, Tom Jenkins, Lindsay Smith, and Isaiah Papali'i, have also secured extensions to stay with the team.
