Jahrome Hughes Injury Update from Melbourne Storm
The Melbourne Storm have announced that Jahrome Hughes' time on the sidelines will be brief, as he has been diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring injury.
This injury occurred toward the end of Melbourne's dominant victory over the Canberra Raiders on Sunday, where they triumphed 42 to 20.
Hughes exited the game with only eight minutes remaining, and the New Zealand international is expected to miss anywhere from one to three weeks.
Typically, low-grade hamstring strains require careful management, and Hughes is anticipated to return to the field in the upcoming weeks, depending on his recovery.
As the Storm, having secured five victories in their last six matches, look to build on their recent success, Tyran Wishart has been named as the starting halfback for this weekend's match against the Manly Sea Eagles. Josiah Pahulu will also join the bench for this crucial Battle of Brookvale.
After the Round 17 game, Melbourne will have a bye week, potentially allowing Hughes to return in time for their home game against the Gold Coast Titans the following Sunday.
However, there remains the possibility that Hughes could be held out for that contest, given that the Storm will face a five-day turnaround for a pivotal clash against the Sydney Roosters at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Although Wishart has demonstrated his skills in the halves, his strengths may be better suited to the five-eighth position.
Hughes has been instrumental in the Storm's resurgence, contributing seven try assists in their last five victories, bringing his season total to an impressive 18 assists in just 14 games.
