At the Sydney Roosters academy in Kingsford, four talented players-Siua Wong, Robert Toia, Salesi Foketi, and Benaiah Ioelu-have experienced this firsthand.
The camaraderie they developed while living in the same unit is complemented by high-profile visitors, including club chairman Nick Politis and other board members.
According to Wong, "At least once a month not only Nick but the whole board would come over for dinner."
The impact of these gatherings has been significant for the young players. Wong noted the initial nerves that come from dealing with influential figures in the sport.
He expressed appreciation for how accessible and humble the board members were during these interactions. "For them to be so down to earth and express a lot of humility to get to know some of the young boys was something that I really loved," he stated.
