Huddersfield's Watson tackled out of coaching position

Huddersfield stand down coach Watson with immediate effect

The Huddersfield Giants have decided to give head coach Ian Watson the boot with immediate effect, just ahead of their showdown against the Leigh Leopards this weekend.

Watson, who joined the Giants in 2021 and recently inked a shiny new four-year deal, won't be calling the shots when they hit the pitch against Leigh - catch it live on Sky Sports Mix at 3pm this Saturday.

After suffering a brutal 48-0 defeat at the hands of the Warrington Wolves last Friday, Watson didn't hold back in calling his team's performance "embarrassing."

"Following today's scheduled monthly board meeting, the club has made the tough decision to stand down head coach Ian Watson," stated the Huddersfield Giants.

Although the Giants made a splash in the Challenge Cup final back in 2022 and clinched a respectable third place finish, they've been struggling to find their groove ever since.

This weekend's match against the Leigh Leopards will be a crucial test for the team as they aim to bounce back from recent setbacks and pave their way to success.
