Holmes Sets Goals Amid Criticism

Valentine Holmes Discusses Origin Aspirations

Valentine Holmes, the center for St George Illawarra, has shared his ambitions for the remainder of the season, particularly regarding his hopes to participate in the State of Origin series this year.

This season has been challenging for Holmes, facing scrutiny as the Red V struggle to secure their first win nearing ten rounds.

Despite the criticism, he is determined to regain his performance level for the Dragons, concentrating on guiding the team back to success in 2026 before turning his attention to representative play.

"I'm probably my harshest critic, I've copped it when I was at Cowboys as well," Holmes expressed during a media session on Wednesday.

"I played some pretty average games up there as well. I know what type of club we are here and how big of a team and history of the club and what these fans and the supporters mean to this club."

"Yes, my form hasn't been, and none of the players' form has been where we would like to be."

"But that's one thing I've been definitely working on, it's a team sport and we all need to help each other get better."

"I could be better defensively as well and so could the team. That's one thing we've definitely spoken about, we've been honest within each other, that's why we're trying to get better each week."

As Queensland Origin selections approach in the next two weeks, Holmes is aiming to present his best performance while maintaining his focus on the Red V's ongoing season.
