Canberra Raiders deny Paseka interest

Canberra Raiders sew on patch

News Corp reports this week pointed to a Manly "fire sale" at Brookvale, potentially reshaping the Sea Eagles' roster.

Kieran Foran is heading into his first season in charge after inheriting Anthony Seibold's roster in 2026, and wants to build a squad capable of challenging for a premiership.

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has dismissed reports that the Raiders are pursuing Manly forward Taniela Paseka.

The Rugby League Insider podcast had reported Canberra were interested, possibly to replace middle forwards Morgan Smithies, Corey Horsburgh and Josh Papalii, who have left the capital.

"No. That's not correct. We're not interested," Stuart told The Canberra Times.

Paseka is contracted to Manly until the end of 2029 and is regarded as the club's leading and biggest middle forward, making him likely to feature in Foran's plans.

Meanwhile, international players Lehi Hopoate and Caleb Navale can speak to rival clubs about 2028.

Manly began preseason training early, sharing a Tuesday video of Joey Walsh, Onitoni Large and Simione Laiafi working to earn places in next season's 19-man side.
