Warrington have extended Sam Burgess's contract as head coach through 2028, making a return to South Sydney appear less likely after speculation about him coaching the Rabbitohs.
Since joining the Wolves at the start of 2024, Burgess has taken them to three finals matches.
Their latest campaign ended with a 23-10 defeat by Wakefield in October's Grand Final at Old Trafford.
He has also promoted local talent: Arron Lindop debuted in 2024, and a club-record 12 Warrington-developed players featured against Toulouse this year.
Burgess said he was pleased to stay and believed the club was close to achieving its ambitions.
"It's a real honour to extend my time at the Wire, and I'm excited to continue leading this club forward," Burgess said in a Warrington statement.
"I love what we're doing and believe we're not far away from achieving what we are all chasing.
He thanked Simon Moran, Stuart Middleton and Karl Fitzpatrick for their trust, and supporters for backing him and the team.
The former South Sydney star won the 2014 Clive Churchill Medal after helping end the club's 47-year premiership drought, despite breaking his cheekbone in the opening hit-up against James Graham.
He represented England and Great Britain 26 times and captained his country in the 2017 World Cup Final.
