The Canterbury Bulldogs have secured an impressive signing as Freddy Lussick prepares to join their ranks on a two-year contract.
This addition will significantly alter the Bulldogs' spine, as they look for a dynamic option from dummy half, highlighted by Lussick's recent performance where he scored two tries for the Penrith Panthers.
The 25-year-old is set to make the transition to Belmore next year, according to reports from NewsCorp, with no opportunity for a transfer prior to the June 30 deadline.
Having played 10 games for the Panthers this season at a consistently high standard, Lussick is making his case to become a starting hooker in the NRL.
Before joining the Bulldogs, he spent time with four different NRL teams, including the Sydney Roosters, St George Illawarra Dragons, and the Panthers, facing challenges in establishing himself as a primary hooker since his NRL debut in 2020.
Phil Gould, the Bulldogs' head honcho, recently met with off-contract hooker Sam Verills during Magic Round, with photos surfacing online showing their encounter.
Despite this, Gould has chosen to pursue Lussick, who is getting closer to securing the starting nine jersey for the blue and white.
This signing will certainly put pressure on Bailey Hayward, the current hooker, who has struggled to ignite the attack from dummy half following Reed Mahoney's exit.
Lussick had signed a one-year deal with the Panthers after receiving an early release from the Warriors, showcasing his growth under Ivan Cleary and his teammates.
