The Sydney Roosters have announced that Siua Wong will be sidelined for up to six weeks due to a moderate grade MCL strain.
This injury occurred during a match against the North Queensland Cowboys when Wong was struck by a cannonball-style tackle from utility Karl Lawton.
Remarkably, Lawton was not penalized for the dangerous tackle, leading to Wong leaving the field and unable to return.
The NRL's match review committee intervened on Monday morning, charging Lawton with dangerous contact.
As a result, Lawton faces a two-week suspension if he submits an early guilty plea or three weeks if he contests the charge and loses at the judiciary.
Meanwhile, Wong's recovery timeline stands at six weeks.
