Raiders.com.au has confirmed that Canberra Raiders skipper Elliott Whitehead is in hot water after getting charged by the NRL Match Review Committee.
Whitehead is facing a grade three dangerous contact charge for an incident involving Roosters hooker Brandon Smith.
If he chooses to take the early guilty plea, he'll be looking at a three-game sideline stint.
However, if he decides to contest the charge and doesn't come out on top, he could cop a four-game ban.
In addition to the dangerous contact charge, Whitehead has also been hit with a grade one contrary conduct charge and a grade one dangerous contact (tripping) charge.
Opting for the early pleas on these offenses will result in fines for the Englishman.
It's a tough break for the Raiders' leader, as he now has a tough decision to make that could impact his team's upcoming matches.
We'll have to wait and see how Whitehead decides to tackle these challenges ahead of him.
