Wests Tigers Outside Back Makes Cross-Code Move

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

After spending pre-season training with the Wests Tigers, an outside back has chosen to leave the club and make a cross-code transition.

Max Lehmann, who initially signed a NSW Cup deal with the Tigers that entailed several weeks of first-grade training, will now depart and return to the United States.

Back in his home country, he has committed to a one-year contract with the New England Free Jacks in the Major League Rugby competition, set to last until the end of the 2026 season.

This will mark his debut in professional rugby union; however, he has previously been associated with the Junior NSW Waratahs squad, bringing considerable experience and talent to the team.

Lehmann's extensive career includes international play with the Bradford Bulls and appearances in the NSW Cup for the Parramatta Eels and South Sydney Rabbitohs, as well as winning a QLD Cup premiership with the Brisbane Tigers.
