Warriors' injury woes leave them sidelined and scrambling

LeagueNews.co | Jess Malloy

The New Zealand Warriors are facing significant setbacks following injuries to two key players.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has reportedly sustained a syndesmosis injury, while Marata Niukore suffered a concussion during the first half of a surprising loss to the Penrith Panthers.

Both players went down early in the game, with Niukore's injury stemming from a serious head clash while attempting a tackle, which left him bloodied and subsequently forced him to leave.

As for Niukore, there is some clarity regarding his recovery, assuming that his concussion symptoms do not linger.

NRL concussion protocols stipulate that he must sit out for a minimum of 11 days, ensuring that he will miss the Warriors' upcoming match against the Brisbane Broncos.

However, he is expected to be available for Round 19, following a bye against the Wests Tigers.
