Warriors Fall to Bears in Costly Loss

NSW Cup Match Report: Lapses costly in loss to Bears

The NZ Warriors suffered a costly 22-40 defeat against the North Sydney Bears in their round eight NSW Cup match at FMG Stadium Waikato.

Late in the game, they narrowed the score to 22-28 with 15 minutes remaining, giving them a chance to draw level.

Unfortunately, the Warriors failed to capitalize on this opportunity, allowing the Bears to score twice in the final minutes, extending their lead to 18 points.

North Sydney initially took the lead with halfback Thomas Steadman keeping the play alive for Riley Meyn to finish off.

The Warriors countered with a try from winger Daeon Amituanai, but Jett Cleary missed the conversion, leaving North Sydney ahead 6-4.

Despite a potential comeback, a critical turnover granted the Bears excellent field position to secure their win.

With minutes to spare, Jayden Yates passed to Jake Toby near the line, sealing victory for North Sydney, who added another try from Meyn.

The Bears remain at the top of the ladder, with five wins from eight games, aiming to strengthen their position in their next match.
