England head coach Shaun Wane is urging Super League players to increase the intensity of their matches to better prepare for the upcoming Test series against Australia.
Reporting by BBC indicates that Wane has assembled a 32-strong squad comprised of Super League players to instill his expectations and improve their performance ahead of the Ashes.
He plans to incorporate Australia-based NRL players as the club season concludes.
Wane is focusing on this gathering to clearly communicate his demands at the elite level and foster a deeper understanding among players.
Despite recognizing the talent and performance of individual players, he believes the overall standard of play has sometimes fallen short.
"I look at the St Helens and Leeds game from the other week, and that was intense," Wane stated.
"But, I need a lot more Test match standard games." His emphasis is on creating more competitive environments akin to international matches, which he sees as crucial for successful preparation against the world champions.
