Queensland legend Billy Slater has slammed the door shut on any rumors linking him to the coaching role at the Broncos after Kevin Walters was given his marching orders by the club.
The decision to part ways with Walters was described as a "collective" one by Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy, signaling the end of the former premiership player's four-year stint in charge.
Walters, who appeared before the media on Friday morning, chose not to field any questions but did express his gratitude for his time at the club, calling it "very joyful." Donaghy also confirmed that Walters will be staying on as a club ambassador in order to maintain his strong ties to the organization.
In the wake of Walters' departure, Slater made it clear that he would not be throwing his hat in the ring for the vacant coaching position.
"Yeah, that won't be happening," he stated during an interview on Triple M Breakfast.
"I'm sure the Broncos will have plenty of candidates lining up for the job, but I won't be one of them."
With the coaching carousel now in motion at the Broncos, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the frontrunner to take over the reins at the iconic Brisbane club.
