Walsh's Kangaroos dream comes full circle

‘Wish I could be half the player Teddy is’: Reece Walsh’s big admission as surprise switch emerges

Reece Walsh is nearing his first World Cup after experiencing international football for the first time in last year's Ashes series.

The 24-year-old will represent the Australian Kangaroos as they seek a World Cup victory on home soil.

His earlier appearance in Australia's colours came in 2019, when he was selected as an Australian Schoolboy and was beginning to make his mark in rugby league.

Walsh said the opportunity held special meaning after growing up watching leading Australian players represent their country and dreaming of doing so himself.

"It feels good (to be back)," Walsh said.

He recalled watching national squads on television as a child, then following senior players' tours and hearing their stories after moving into first grade.
