Tyson Walker, brother of Sam Walker, has officially secured his first NRL contract by signing an upgraded train and trial deal with the North Queensland Cowboys.
Having advanced through the club's ranks in recent years, he has now made a significant stride toward his NRL debut with this new agreement.
Previously, he played alongside his brother Sam at the Sydney Roosters, but he was signed by the Cowboys on a pathways deal in the middle of last year.
Walker had a strong showing by winning the 2025 SG Ball title with the Roosters, and he is considered a promising talent.
In addition to Walker, the Cowboys are also believed to have upgraded Taylan To'a, a former Gold Coast Titans forward, as well as Under-19s Queensland five-eighth Taj Lateo. Furthermore, Under-19s NSW Blues representative Archie Mesritz will be added to the development list, while Ethan King has been elevated to the club's Top 30 roster.
"That's definitely the dream (to play with Sam). I've just got to keep working hard and hit some kicks on the siren," expressed the younger Walker.
"He's taught me a lot on the field and off the field, like what it takes to be a professional, which has been really good, and it's been really helpful."
"All the work that goes on, not only on the field but off the field, is even bigger as well. He's been a massive help."
