Westpac NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley announced that the injury concern surrounding winger Brian To'o significantly influenced his decision to select Jacob Kiraz as the 18th man for the upcoming State of Origin decider.
To'o sustained a knee injury during Penrith's victory over Kiraz's Bulldogs, but scans showed no serious damage.
Nevertheless, To'o will be limited in training as he attempts to recover in time for the game next Wednesday at Accor Stadium.
He must demonstrate his fitness by Saturday.
Daley noted that Kiraz was previously called into camp for a training session ahead of Game Two when To'o was managing a hamstring issue but returned to play for his club shortly thereafter.
Under NRL regulations, the selected 18th man trains with the team all week, in contrast to the 19th and 20th men, who can return to their clubs for Round 18 matches.
Given the likelihood that To'o won't be ready to train until at least Saturday, Daley emphasized the importance of Kiraz being fully prepared for next week's clash.
