Injury Updates Ahead of Knights' Clash

The Newcastle Knights have issued an update regarding the injuries of several key players ahead of their highly anticipated match against the Sydney Roosters this Sunday.

The club reported that Dylan Lucas suffered a severe throat injury while making a tackle during the second half of last week's game against the Wests Tigers.

Following the match, he was transported to a nearby hospital, where scans confirmed multiple cartilage fractures.

Lucas is anticipated to be sidelined for four to six weeks and will return to Newcastle today after remaining in Sydney for further medical observation since Sunday evening.

In addition, veteran Tyson Frizell will also be unavailable for three to four weeks as he contends with a rib injury.

On a more positive note, halfback Dylan Brown is expected to be named today at 4 PM, having successfully rehabilitated from an MCL injury he sustained in round 2 against Manly.

Moreover, stars Kalyn Ponga and Bradman Best are on track for a return, with both making good progress in their rehabilitation and expected back in the coming weeks.

Despite facing a wave of injuries at the start of their 2026 campaign, the Knights have managed to hold their ground, currently lying sixth on the ladder with a commendable record of four wins and two losses.
