In a surprising turn of events, former England captain Sam Tomkins has teased the possibility of hitting the field once more in the 2025 Betfred Super League season.
Tomkins, who had initially hung up his boots after a knee injury following Catalans Dragons' defeat in the 2023 Grand Final, made a triumphant return to the pitch midway through this year to help out his former club.
The 35-year-old made a total of six appearances for the French club in the final rounds of the regular season, proving that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
Speaking on The Bench podcast, Tomkins expressed his desire to keep playing, stating, "I thought I was going to finish on a high at Old Trafford last year, but that wasn't the ending I had in mind.
I never want to say goodbye to the game I love so much."
With his passion for the sport still burning bright, Tomkins is ready to lace up his boots once again and take to the field in the 2025 season.
Will this seasoned player make a triumphant return and prove that age is just a number in the world of rugby league? Only time will tell.
