One of the old dogs of Rugby League, former England captain Sam Tomkins, has once again answered the call of the game.

After coming out of retirement to assist his former club Catalans Dragons in the midst of the 2024 Betfred Super League season, Tomkins has now announced that he will continue to lace up his boots for the 2025 season, marking the 18th chapter in his illustrious career.

The news of Tomkins' decision to stick around for another year with the Dragons has sent shockwaves through the Rugby League community.

The veteran player, who initially hung up his boots after a heartbreaking defeat to Wigan Warriors in the 2023 Grand Final at Old Trafford due to a pesky knee injury, made a dramatic return to the field in July.

Despite only making six appearances for the French club during the final rounds of the regular season, Tomkins showed that he still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

Although Tomkins' heroic efforts were not enough to propel Catalans back into the play-offs after their Grand Final appearance the previous year, the gritty player remains determined to rise to the challenge once again.

"I've decided to go round again," Tomkins declared to the press, showcasing his unwavering dedication to the sport.

As Tomkins gears up for another year of hard-hitting action in 2025, fans can expect to see more of his signature flair, resilience, and passion on the field.

With the support of his teammates and the roar of the crowd behind him, Tomkins is ready to tackle whatever challenges come his way and leave his mark on the Rugby League history books once again.
